ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jan Henning, a watercolor artist, is a retired elementary school art teacher with over 32 years of service teaching children.  Since 1997 she has provided art instruction for adults in both evening courses and workshops.  She also works in pastels. Jan holds a BS in Art Education SUNY New Paltz.  Her post-graduate work was  done at Marywood University, Scranton, PA, Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA, Penn State University, Worthington Campus, Scranton, PA, Wilkes University, Wilkes Barre, PA and NEIU #18, Kingston, PA. The artist also did an Architectural Residency for Teachers at Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater in Mill Run, PA.artist photo  Jan received the EDUCATOR of the YEAR award from the Graduate Department of Marywood University.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

 "Representing nature in the form of landscapes is the driving force behind most of my artwork.  I am trying to reproduce and re-interpret the great color and the majestic forms that were originally created by God.  The 'awesomeness' of our surroundings is the catalyst for my work and I am striving to instill this in the eye of the viewer."

MULTI-NATIONAL IMPACT:

The artist has painted en plein air in Canada and the Eastern United States.  Her work hangs in numerous homes and businesses from Ontario, Canada, to South Carolina.

The Artist also works, at times, out of a small studio near Milton, DE, on the Delaware Bay, which readily affords en plein air access to the Delaware shore and several nearby National Wildlife Refuges.  The artist often visits the Charleston, SC, area where en plein air painting opportunities are endless.

The Artist accepts a limited number of commissions after evaluating the particular request and timeline.
